I am currently accepting new clients for in-person as well as telehealth sessions though I strongly believe that in-person sessions are much more effective. Being in a safe space outside of the client's home (which may be chaotic and provide little privacy) creates an atmosphere that's much more conducive to an effective therapy experience. Being in the therapist's office provides a clear boundary and distinction separate from home (or these days, working from home). Additionally, it's very hard to develop a rapport through technology compared to being in the physical presence of another person. I ask that clients NOT wear a mask during session since so much of our emotion is expressed through the face and masks prevent the ability to read facial expression accurately. If clients are uncomfortable with not wearing a mask then I would recommend switching to virtual sessions. I can only do EMDR and experiential sessions in person.
*Sitting 6 feet apart
*Sanitizing door knobs and furniture with U/V light between sessions.
*Hand sanitizer available
While I prefer in-person sessions, I do offer telehealth sessions via a secure portal. I cannot do EMDR or experiential sessions via telehealth. Clients must be physically present in Maryland at the time of the session since Maryland is the only state I am licensed in.
